Man who shot two BPD officers is identified

The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified a 22-year-old man who died in a shootout that left two Bakersfield Police Department officers wounded.

Isaac Lopez Cervantez died at 601 Pacheco Rd. on Aug. 30 after firing upon officers Matthew
Johnson and Joshua Deutinger. Both police officers were taken to a local hospital and were expected to recover from their wounds, police said.

Johnson has been a police officer with the Bakersfield Police Department since October of 2014, and Deutinger since January of 2013.
