Coroner identifies four victims in horrific northwest Bakersfield crash

The Kern County Coroner’s Office has identified the four people who were killed late Tuesday night in a horrific crash along Rosedale Highway and Nord Road in northwest Bakersfield.

The crash happened at 10:15 p.m. when a passenger vehicle collided with a tractor trailer at the intersection. All four people in the car died at the scene.

The victims were identified as Deziaray Zepeda, 23, of Bakersfield; Stephen Taylor Walker, 26, of Bakersfield; Lacey Lynn-Mcquilliams, 24, of Bakersfield; and Mark Wayne Hoyt, 27, of Bakersfield.

The coroner identified Hoyt as the driver of the car. The CHP reported that car was traveling northbound on Nord Road and ran a stop sign and was struck by the big-rig truck. The car became pinned under the truck’s trailer and was dragged for some distance before stopping.

Zepeda’s family has started a Go Fund Me account to help with expenses and Zepeda leaves behind a young daughter. Mcquilliams family has also launched a Go Fund Me campaign.
