Bakersfield’s Walk Like MADD raises awareness about drunk driving

It’s a walk that Michael Benge said he never wants to make, and one that he hopes will end one day.

However, the reality of Benge’s burden, along with thousands of other Americans who have lost a loved one to a drunk driver, will probably never cease, because drunk driving remains a major problem in the United States.

During an interview on the Aug. 23 episode of “The Richard Beene Show,” Benge, an advertising representative for American General Media, the parent company of kernradio.com, told Beene about the upcoming “Walk Like Madd” 5-kilometer run and 10-kilometer run on Sept. 23 at the Park at River Walk.

Benge shared his story about losing his wife to a drunk driver and his commitment to the MADD program.
