One man missing, another rescued in Kern River near Hart Park

The Kern County Sheriff’s Department’s Search and Rescue rescued a man out of the Kern River near Hart Park in Bakersfield on Sunday afternoon, but they are still searching for a 21-year-old man who went missing in the swift-running river.

Officials said they were called at 2 p.m. to the park, along with the Kern County Fire Department and Bakersfield Fire Department, to help search for the missing man, who authorities said is Bakersfield. Using searchers on the ground, with an assist from the Kern County Fire Department’s helicopter, the search and rescue teams were unable to locate the man.

There are currently three people missing on the Kern River, deputies said.
