One man rescued, another missing in Kern River

Kern County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue teams rescued a man Tuesday afternoon in the Kern River near the Sandy Flat Campground and Lake Isabella, but another man remains missing.

The Sheriff’s Department said a man was seen being pulled under the water between the Sandy Flat Campground and the Hobo Flat Campground. Search and rescue conducted three searches of the immediate area for the missing man, but all three searches were unsuccessful. Sheriff’s deputies said the other man was successfully rescued on the north side of the Kern River near the Sandy Flat Campground.
