Taft man arrested in theft of truck, trailer

A 47-year-old Taft man was arrested Thursday after a suspicious farmer called Kern County Sheriff’s deputies about a chemical truck stuck in a field near Millux and Hill roads near Taft.

The farmer told deputies that he was not familiar with the subject driving the truck and requested law enforcement respond.

When detectives arrived, they talked with the driver truck, Joseph Geiger of Taft, and determined he was not an employee of the farming company and the chemical trailer had been stolen.  Deputies said the trailer was valued at approximately $2,000.

Geiger was taken into custody and booked into Taft’s jail.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Rural Crime Investigation Unit at 661-392-4365.
