Police search for man in Dollar General robbery

Bakersfield police are searching for a man who robbed a Union Avenue Dollar General store at gunpoint last week, and they are looking for the community’s help in identifying the suspect.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, 18-20 years of age, 150-160 pounds, white facial hair, possible mustache, wearing a blue and white shirt, blue jeans and a long sleeve blue shirt tied on his head.

Police said the man walked in at 8:30 p.m. on May 16 to the the Dollar General, located at 401 Union Avenue, and selected several items of merchandise. The suspect exited the store without paying for the items, at which time a store employee confronted the suspect. The suspect removed a handgun, pointed it at the employee, and fled with the items.
