Brace yourself Bakersfield, it’s going to be hot today

It’s the first week of May, but today might as well be the first day of summer.

The National Weather Service is forecasting temperatures in Bakersfield at 98 degrees on Wednesday, before hitting a weekly high of 101 on Thursday. Temperatures start to cool off Friday, with highs around 90 degrees, and things look better for the weekend with temperatures returning to the high 70s.

Lows will be in the high 60s.

The Weather Service is forecasting a 20 percent chance of rain by Saturday night, with a chance of rain continuing Sunday and into Monday.
