If you wanted traditional macaroni and cheese at the 2017 Mac and Cheese Fest then you might want to head to the grocery store for the boxed stuff, because on Saturday it was all about the heat and sweet.
Countryside Grill, tucked into Brookside Market, at the northeast corner of Coffee and Hageman roads, repeated as mac and cheese champ with its take on Chile Verde and mac and cheese. For the third consecutive year, Cafe Med finished second and Murray Family Farms, which won two years ago, finished third with a strawberry cheesecake mac and cheese.
What makes the Mac and Cheese Fest unique is the diversity, and Countryside co-owner Raji Brar summed that up perfectly:
“I just have to say one thing, food brings us all together,” she said to the crowd. “And this mac and cheese, I just gotta say, a Punjabi family, Mexican Chile Verde.”
And that unique combination produced another stellar and enthusiastic effort to the fourth annual event, which is produced by kernradio.com owner American General Media. And don’t miss the more than 120 photos from the event: https://www.kernradio.com/envira/the-2017-mac-and-cheese-fest-gallery/
Countryside Grill is named 2017 Champs
We sent out Michael Hopper, a co-host on “First Look with Scott Cox”, on a mission to sample all of the restaurants competing at The Mac and Cheese Fest. Check back periodically as we will continue to post more videos throughout the coming days.
