Sheriff deputies continue to take drugs off Bakersfield streets

Kern County Sheriff deputies made a couple of major drug busts in recent days.

On Tuesday, deputies arrested 32-year-old Loren Haddock during an east Bakersfield traffic stop on suspicion of possessing more than a pound of meth, and $1,500 in cash. Deputies said the traffic stop was made near the intersection of Monterey Street and Alta Vista Drive in Bakersfield, and came after a search of Haddock’s backpack.

Haddock was booked into the Central Receiving Facility on charges which included possession of a controlled substatnce for the purpose of sale, transportation of a controlled substance, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.

Also on Tuesday, detectives arrested Pedro Parerez, 31, on suspicion of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana for the purpose of sales.

Detectives said they recovered approximately 743 grams of methamphetamine, 194 grams of cocaine, 892 grams of marijuana, and more than $8,000 in cash from a Bakersfield home in the 3900 block of Vance Avenue.
