Suspect shot at Lamont market

Kern County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a shooting after a confrontation at a Lamont-area market.

The shooting happened at 11:24 a.m. at Azteca Market, 2810 Weedpatch Highway, north of Lamont, and involved when the suspect confronted an employee, who shot the suspect. Deputies said the suspect fled the scene and was later found a short time later in the area of Morning Drive and Breckenridge Road.

Deputies aid the suspect had “major injuries” and was taken by ambulance to Kern Medical in critical condition.

Detectives responded and have initiated an investigation into the shooting. The investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this case they are asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 661-861-3110 or Secret Witness at 661-322-4040.
