Deputies make drug, weapon arrests at Bakersfield Internet casino

A Bakersfield elementary school was temporarily locked down Thursday after Kern County Sheriff’s Deputies pursued a suspect who was flashing a gun at an Internet casino in the 2800 block of Niles Street.

Sheriff deputies responded to a call of a man showing a gun and when they arrived, the suspect jumped a fence in the rear of the Internet casino and onto the campus of Horace Mann Elementary School. Deputies searched the campus, and did not find the suspect but found drug paraphernalia.

Deputies returned to the Internet casino and searched the business, where they detained several suspect. A search of the business uncovered a .357 revolver and drug paraphernalia. Deputies arrested Christian Mendez, 28, and Raymond Medina, 26, and both men were booked into the Central Receiving Facility on suspicion of weapons and drug possessions. Susana Reyes, 25, was also arrested at the casino on an active felony warrant.
