CSU Bakersfield headed to Madison Square Garden

ARLINGTON, Texas — Cal State Bakersfield survived a withering second-half comeback by University of Texas, Arlington to beat the host Mavericks 80-76 to advance to the National Invitational Tournament semifinals next week at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Shon Briggs scored a team-high 19 points and Damiyne Durham scored 18 points to lead the Roadrunners, who won their third consecutive postseason game.

CSUB will face Georgia Tech in the semifinals on March 28.

The Roadrunners got off to another torrid start and led 45-29 at halftime. In the second half, UT Arlington outscored the Roadrunners 47-35, but it wasn’t enough.

In the other half of the semifinals at the NIT, Texas Christian will faced Central Florida. The title game will be played March 30 at Madison Square Garden.
