CSU Bakersfield’s men’s basketball team will take the court Monday in the second round of the National Invitational Tournament against Colorado State in Fort Collins.
The game is slated to tip at 8 p.m. and can be heard live on NEWSTALK 1180/96.1 KERN with Corey Costelloe providing the play-by-play.
On Wednesday, CSUB coach Rod Barnes appeared on “The Greg Kerr Show,” weekdays from noon to 1 p.m. on 1230/98.1 ESPN Bakersfield, and on “The Richard Beene Show” to discuss his team’s upset win at California, and what they will face on the road at Colorado State.
“I thought we came out and really jumped on (Cal),” Barnes told Kerr. “The way we played on both ends of the court might have been the best half that we had all year.”
Against Cal, the Roadrunners took a 25-point halftime lead and then had to hold on in the second half as Cal rallied down the stretch.
“We are going to have spurts where we are not as fresh, because we probably play harder than anyone in the country,” Barnes said.
Colorado State is 24-11 and lost in the Mountain West Conference championship game against Nevada, which earned the conference’s only bid into the NCAA Tournament. The two teams have common opponents in New Mexico State and Fresno State, which Colorado State split against this season. The Rams are 15-5 at home this season.
