Kern County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the death of a man who they said jumped from a moving car Monday morning along Rosedale Highway.

In a news release, Deputies said a man had been riding as a passenger in a vehicle with his wife and children. At one point the male subject and his wife became involved in an argument and during the argument the male subject opened the passenger door to the vehicle and purposely leapt from the vehicle.

The incident happened at Superior Road and Rosedale Highway, west of Bakersfield,  and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The case is being investigated as a probable suicide. The Coroner’s Office took custody of the decedent and will release his identity at a later time. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine cause and manner of death.
