Man in critical condition after jumping from moving car

A man suffered major injuries Thursday night after jumping from a moving car at California Avenue and N Street.

The man, who was not identified, was in critical condition at a local hospital, but the driver of the vehicle, Yolanda Reynolds, 38, of Bakersfield, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Reynolds was taken to and booked into Kern County Jail.

The incident occurred at 7:43 p.m. and it’s unknown if drugs and alcohol played a factor in the man’s decision to jump from the car.
