Inspiring the next generation of student leaders is the focus of a Business Leadership and Ethics Conference for Kern High School Students on March 14.
The 27th annual event, which is sponsored by local Rotary Clubs and the Kern High School District, will bring together 168 high school students for the conference from from 8:15 a.m. to 1:15 pm. at Hodel’s.
“This annual event allows students to refine their leadership and decision-making skills under the guidance of respected local business leaders. Together, we are developing tomorrow’s leaders,” saidBrian Mendiburu, Kern High School District’s supervising administrator for Students Support Services.
Special guests include morning Keynote Speaker, Dr. Brenda Lewis, Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Kern High School District and afternoon Keynote Speaker, Lyle Martin, Chief of Police for the Bakersfield Police Department.
During the event, participating high school juniors join Rotarians and KHSD representatives in round table discussions of various scenarios involving leadership characteristic and ethical practices. More than 28 Rotarians are expected to participate. The conference is co-sponsored by area Rotary Clubs and the KHSD.
