Female pedestrian dies in Bakersfield crash

A woman died Tuesday morning after being hit by a car at the intersection on Ashe and McKee roads.

Bakersfield Police said the crash happened at 9:46 a.m. and the woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. In a news release, police said the female was jogging westbound across the south portion of the intersection in an unmarked cross walk. An adult male driving a truck was southbound in the No. 2 lane and did not see the female in time to stop and struck her.

The male driver stopped and called the Bakersfield Police Department to report the collision. At this time drugs, alcohol and speed do not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The Bakersfield Police Department Major Collision Investigation Team is completing the investigation.
