NCAA bracketologist doesn’t think CSUB will make the tournament

On the Feb. 22 Greg Show, weekdays on ESPN Bakersfield 1230 AM/98.1 FM, a contributing writer for USA Today said he doesn’t think Cal State Bakersfield will make a return trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Of course, he’s also willing to admit to one big thing: that it’s a “wild-ass guess.”

Writer Shelby Mast said that while CSUB has had a “nice season,” he still expects New Mexico State to go to the NCAA Tournament out of next month’s Western Athletic Conference Tournament in Las Vegas. Mast based that opinion on the fact that New Mexico State has played a more difficult schedule, has a higher RPI score (a key index on determining how teams rank) and that the WAC is only guaranteed one team into the tournament — usually the winner of the conference tournament.

Mast writes a regular column for USA Today and he also writes for his website dubbed bracketwag.com (wild-assed guess.)
