PIXELS a good kind of bad

PIXELS a good kind of bad

PIXELS is not as bad a film as many of the hyperbolic movie reviewers are saying it is. The audience I saw it with had a good time, and God help me, I kinda did too.

All this coming from a guy that hates Adam Sandler. I mean I HATE Adam Sandler. So I take no joy in giving him a sliver of credit.

But this film is dumb, it intends to be dumb, it never for a moment takes itself seriously, and in that freedom of inane comedy space (which many comedies take full advantage of) it has its own charm.

In my heart of hearts I believe that film critics sometimes go into film intending to take a movie apart simply because it’s trendy or they feel it’s beneath them (i.e. NPR and the Wall Street Journal and their views on superhero films). I believe that’s exactly what happened here.

I am going to recommend PIXELS. I had fun. And I will say this, for the record… PIXELS is a better film than that money making monstrosity, JURASSIC WORLD.
