HEAT WAVE MOVIES

HEAT WAVE MOVIES

By Hop

While you’re sitting inside with the a/c running, wondering when this wave of heat will end, why not fire up the blu-ray/DVD player and watch other people deal with their problems in the heat!!!

Here are my TOP 5 FILMS THAT TAKE PLACE DURING A HEAT WAVE.

5 – 12 ANGRY MEN (1957)  The heat is really the 13th juror , turning the screws on the others as a man’s  future hangs in the balance during the deliberations of a murder trial. Fans won’t work, windows won’t open, every shirt is soaked, and every temper is short. Henry Fonda heads the stellar cast, and they fire on all cylinders with the great script.

4 – BODY HEAT (1981)  A quasi-film-noir murder mystery. Not bad, but the selling point? A young Kathleen Turner … sweating… in a bathtub… with ice cubes.  Yeah…

3 – IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1967) Sidney Poitier is outstanding a Northern homicide detective stuck in a Southern town as a heat wave causes secrets to boil to the surface… including murder. Oscars for Best Picture and Rod Steiger for Lead Actor.

2 – REAR WINDOW (1954)  Jimmy Stewart decides that it’s a great time to look thru peoples open windows during a heat wave and while he’s laid up with a broken leg. Um… on second thought… maybe not the best idea. An Alfred Hitchcock classic with an open set that’s unbelievable.

1 – DO THE RIGHT THING (1989)  Brooklyn. Summer. Heat wave. Racial tensions. Spike Lee. Classic.  It just doesn’t get much better than this.

Everyone stay cool…
