REPORTS: Police say love triangle may have led to shooting

The shooting death of a popular chef and restaurant owner could have been sparked by a love triangle, according to reports and court documents.

Chef Ray Ingram was shot to death at his home in southwest Bakersfield on the morning of Feb. 22. His longtime girlfriend, Michaele Bowers, was arrested on suspicion of killing Ingram, and was arraigned in Kern County Superior Court on Monday.

Police said Ingram had a longtime relationship with another woman and had a child with that woman. Bowers and Ingram had an adult child together. Ingram, according to reports, purchased the same Valentine’s Day presents for the women.

Both KGET Ch. 17 and The Bakersfield Californian reported the details of the relationship, which were revealed through court documents.

Ingram was the owner of J’s Place, a popular chicken and waffles restaurant near Rosedale Highway. Ingram had also worked at other Bakersfield restaurants, and also sold a line of cobbler mixes.
