Sheriff Youngblood thinks country is on the right track after Trump meeting

Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood makes it clear that he feels better about the United States after visiting President Donald Trump as part of a sheriff’s roundtable.

“I walked away feeling the country is going in the right direction,” said Youngblood, adding he also met with Sen. Jeff Sessions shortly before the Alabama junior senator was sworn in as Attorney General.

Youngblood shared those comments during a 16-minute interview on the Feb. 23 episode of “First Look with Scott Cox” heard live on NEWSTALK 1180/96.1 KERN.

Youngblood was asked about immigration and if Kern County Sheriff’s deputies were going to be involved in potential enforcement.

“We are not (Immigration, Customs Enforcement) agents,” Youngblood said. “We do not have the authority to deport people, but immigration is a big issue with us. Senate Bill 54, by Kevin de Leon, would even limit the ability by my deputies to even communicate with ICE.

“That’s just absurd because we do know that terrorists are trying to get into our country. These seven countries, that actually Obama named, they weren’t made up. These are really serious terror-sponsored countries. I think we need to know who is in our country.”
