Celebrity chef Alton Brown is ready to invade Bakersfield, and he’s looking for a good doughnut.

The star of Food Network’s “Good Eats” is re-launching his stage show on Mar. 14 in Bakersfield, and he told “First Look with Scott Cox” hosts that he will be in Bakersfield for several days at the historic Fox Theater rehearsing the show.

“We are rebuilding the show, and I think I will be there (in Bakersfield) for three days,” Brown said.

The chef said he would be more than happy to visit the First Look studio at The Bakersfield Californian as long as there were doughnuts available.

“I don’t like fussy doughnuts,” he told show host Scott Cox and Michael Hopper. “I don’t want to see any freaking sprinkles on my doughnuts. I don’t want to see any bacon on my doughnuts.”

When asked about his favorite type of doughnut, Brown said he leaned toward cake doughnuts.

“I like a classic old fashioned or a classic sour cream doughnut are my actual favorites.,” Brown said.

Brown also said he was looking for recommendations for dining options in Bakersfield, and Scott and Hopper volunteered the community’s historic Basque restaurants.

“That’s what I’m coming for,” said Brown, who will be appearing in 42 cities nationwide between March 14 and May 17.

Brown’s show is Mar. 14 at the Fox Theater, where tickets can be purchased. Tickets are also available at altonbrowntour.com.
