Bakersfield’s biggest party, Village Fest, is fast approaching

It’s known as one of  Bakersfield’s biggest parties but the annual Village Fest is more than a good time because it benefits the community.

Set at Pioneer Village, on the grounds of the Kern County Museum, Village Fest is an annual offering of beer, wine, food and music. It draws thousands of eager visitors to take in the vast samples of beer and wine.

“There are some events, that I’m quite frankly puzzled by, that even need to be promoted,” said “First Look with Scott Cox” host Scott Cox during the Aug. 16 episode of his show on KERN Newstalk 1180/96.1. “The awareness of Village Fest is close to 100 percent as anything could get.”

Yet, organizer Jim Luff was on the show to do just that but, more importantly, to remind people about the money available to local groups that are raised by Village Fest.

“The last two times we gave away into the community, we didn’t have enough people asking us for money,” Luff explained.  “So, we set aside, let’s say, $80,000 in April to give away to local charities we only ended up giving away $56,000.”

Luff said they are hoping that more charitable groups step up and take advantage of the big event. Tickets are on sale now and start at $68. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/23rd-annual-bakersfield-villagefest-tickets-32455220438?ref=ebtnebtckt
