I FEEL FOR FIELDS BUT HE WAS WRONG By Ralph Bailey

It warmed the cockles of my heart to hear the students of Spring Valley High School in my father’s home state capital of Columbia, South Carolina SUPPORT the actions of Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Fields. If I have to remind you of Fields’ actions you’re too ill-informed to read my blog so stop and go play Sudoku. Yet, despite the support of the mostly African American students in the class, where an impudent 10th grader refused to follow orders of school officials and finally Fields, the deputy was wrong and the county sheriff was right in firing the man, who twice before has been the focus of abuse allegations on children. Furthermore, it’s entirely disingenuous for ANY of you to claim that if YOUR child had been flipped out of their desk for anything short of brandishing a weapon that you wouldn’t be screaming for justice! And let’s truly flip the script and be true to the story. The officer would have to be an overly aggressive black cop, who had two prior incidents with two other white students! And you’re trying to tell me, or many of you did Tuesday afternoon, that you would applaud the fictional black officer. Come on! Get real! No child, no matter their unbelievable lack of respect, manners and simple common sense, which unfortunately makes up a large percentage of kids today, should be manhandled by a grown ass man. The rules for children must be different just as they are for women, invalids and the elderly.
