The Rise Of Non-Christmas Christmas Ads

Nobody cares less than I do about whether or not businesses say “Merry Christmas” when I walk into a store. I also don’t care about the phrase “Happy Holidays”. Seems nice enough. But I do get irritated by all the TV ads that refuse to recognize Christmas while simultaneously profiting off all it’s symbolism. If your commercial doesn’t use the word Christmas, why do you have Santa, Reindeer, presents, elves, and all the other trappings of the season? If you want to rock the whole “Happy Holidays” thing, have at it. But if you use all the known symbols of Christmas, at least have the guts to use the word. Cowards.
