The Blame Game Pre-Game Show

A disturbed person shot up a Planned Parenthood clinic this weekend, and that in itself is horrific. But making matters much more traumatic is the rush to pin this horror on ideology. Or people. Or religion. Or the president. Once upon a time, we’d all be so upset by this type of thing that we’d actually wait a few days for the news to sink in before feeling the need to assign blame beyond the shooter. Not anymore. The rush to put the shooter in a political camp was going on while the siege was still underway, with people on the left speculating on his race and religion while people on the right were blaming liberal policies for the rage felt by the shooter. The geniuses at Fox even went so far as to blame the Obama Justice Department for robbing cops of the resources they need to respond to these types of shootings. Again, while the shooter was still in the building. Amazing. Social media lit up with the usual idiots blaming too many or too few guns. After watching all this lunacy unfold, I have to wonder if this type of toxic thinking is fueling nutjobs like the shooter in Colorado. One thing is certain, though- the 24-hour news networks are milking our hatred and short-sightedness for all it’s worth. Which is a lot.
