Another win for alert citizens!

Remember the beltway snipers? They had half the east coast on alert back in 2002. Everyone from DC police to the FBI to the CIA were looking under every rock for these creeps. And who caught them? A truck driver. An alert citizen spotted the bad guys and called the cops, who picked them up without incident. Fast forward to yesterday, when all manner of law enforcement, including U.S. marshals scoured the Weldon/Onyx area in search of Benjamin Ashley. Thermal imaging cameras, dogs, drones, helicopters -they had them all working around the clock. Then a guy spotted him at a convenience store in Inyokern, 35 miles away from where they were searching. He called the cops, who then drove over and shot him. Simple. look- technology, modern policing methods, advanced search training- they’re all great, but again and again we see that the best tool for finding bad people is good people paying attention. If you see something, say something. This one alert citizen just saved us all a ton of money.
