Why don’t more people donate blood?

I gave blood Friday at the Truxtun Ave. blood bank. The new one is awesome, but I chose the closer location this time. The walls of the lobby are covered with pictures of lifetime blood donors, and someday I hope mine will be right up there with them. But I noticed that the pictures are all of old guys, and that they’re all from the same generation. So what happened? Did people used to have a greater sense of community? Were they just better people? Well whatever broke, we need to ix it. Less than 5% of eligible donors here in Kern County donate blood. That’s unacceptable. Donation is fast, it’s easy, and it saves lives. So don’t wait until you or someone you love needs blood. Give today.
